About the American Alpine Club San Diego Chapter

The American Alpine Club is a non-profit member organization whose mission is to share and support our passion for climbing and respect for the places we climb. The Club is headquartered at the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, Colorado, and has more than 24,000 members in 56 chapters nationwide. Learn more at americanalpineclub.org.

The San Diego Chapter serves a vibrant community of outdoor enthusiasts in an area boasting more than 40 climbing destinations. From the boulders of Santee to the routes of El Cajon Mountain and Eagle Peak, San Diego offers a diverse array of climbing experiences. With its enviable climate and more than 2,000 routes spread across a 4,000 square mile expanse, San Diego beckons climbers of all skill levels.

Our chapter is committed to cultivating a sense of community, advocating for climbing interests, and promoting safe climbing practices. Whether you’re looking to make the transition from top-roping indoors to lead climbing outside or are simply seeking camraderie with fellow climbers, the San Diego Chapter is here to help.
